Green light for green electricity
The naBe criteria for electricity stipulate that federal ministries may only procure green electricity according to the criteria of the Austrian Eco-label, the so-called UZ 46 electricity, from 2022. For other public procurers, there is a target corridor for increasing the share of green electricity. Electricity that does not meet the criteria of the Austrian Eco-label must come 100% from renewable energy sources.
Essential criteria for the procurement of electricity:
- Electricity from 100 % renewable energy sources
- Minimum share of electricity from photovoltaics
- No separate trading of electricity and guarantees of origin
- At least 10 % of the electricity product comes from power plants that are not older than 15 years
